catching up...

to the west coast to visit family, and a break from family found us at Tilth in Seattle, a seriously good choice. The setting reminded Fred of the little restaurants in the front rooms of people's houses in college towns, but the food was at a far different -- much higher -- level. Following night (giving family a break from us), we were at Spring Hill in West Seattle, also a good choice. And then Sunday night at Gary Danko in San Francisco. Delicious food and a very professional operation. Now back in New York, just had dinner at David Burke's FishTail. Fred, alas, was weaned onto fresh-caught pompano, and has not given up hope that global warming will bring them closer to New York. Tonight was not the night. Otherwise, good dinner, good friends, mediocre wine...

As Alice Roosevelt Longworth said, if you've got anything bad to say, sit next to me! No, really, please remember to be kind, and don't say anything fred's mother would not approve of (Diner's mom didn't approve of anything. Including fred.)
