On Martin Luther King Day

  1. Love this! The world would be a much better place if we all lived by these standards.

  2. Hello:
We were reminded recently of the following wonderful quotation from MLK:

"...there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe nor politic nor popular, but one must take it because it is right".

Never were these words more apposite than today.

  3. Jane and Lance, the more I learn of how MLK was "only human," the more I respect his work and achievements.

  4. Thank you for sharing. So beautiful & graceful. We just booked a trip to DC-looking forward to seeing the new MLK monument...among other things. I've been several times, but it will be a first visit for DH and the boys.

  6. Appropriate thought for the day here. We went to St. Francis' tomb in Assisi in October, a powerful experience even though neither of us is Catholic.

  7. Hi, Lane! And of course there's St Francis Friend of Animals, to whom my thoughts turn as we chase the squirrels off the bird feeder...will they eat acorns and keep scrub oaks from sprouting all over the place? No, they bury them in the herb boxes and forget them, because they prefer birdseed. My generosity of spirit has limits, I guess.

I just love this! Very appropriate for the day. Being a huge fan of college and professional football, I cannot help but think of the Denver Broncos quaterback, Tim Tebow. He seems to be setting such a nice example for those who follow sports now.

    Thank you!

  9. Hi, SouthernBellePhD, as a second-grader, I was taught that the Lord is invisible and everywhere, at about the same time that the traveling science teacher (we had him every other week) told us that atoms are invisible and everywhere and Aunt Lilly explained that Santa is invisible and is everywhere at the same time. Nevertheless my spiritual growth did not falter until that spring, when I learned that the Bunny is invisible and....

Still hoping that the Giants pull it out of the hat, BTW!
