gee, I hate when that happens

so was the "difficulty" that someone typed the date wrong on the order?
or does the Copywriter from Space have a new crop of interns this summer?

I admit, freely and voluntarily, that since I got my iPad, I have not achieved mastery of some of its peculiar tendencies - gleefully inappropriate use of auto-correct, wayward spaces, pathological dislike of formatting - and thus sometimes my personal emails are a bit cryptic, or a blog post or comment is a little "off," but when I'm doing something that's essentially a form, that is, a document or message that will be used and recycled, I take the time to look twice.

I deleted a sentence that included the misspelled word, because that's one that auto-correct won't let by unless I add it to the "dictionary." Which I won't.

While I'm on the subject, given the profusion of marked-down sweaters as we trudge sweatily into July, didn't anybody realize that the best time to sell a blue tank top festooned with printed stars is before July 4th?

  1. Ha! I remember back when JC revamped their shipping confirmation e-mails a few years ago and they said "ON IT'S WAY...".

    1. oh, I had a few of those, too... sent a copy to the PTB and received a call from a sweet young thang who inquired, "Do you teach English?" and before I could stop myself, I replied, "No, but I speak it." I'd like to think I've mellowed... .

    4. I wanted to write to Mickey when a Crewcuts T-shirt was printed with something educational that included a grammar error. I kept thinking of the young minds ...

  2. WFF,
The tank top is not, as you incorrectly surmised, for the 4th of July. It is for the J Crew holiday of Bastile(sic) Day, celebrated on July 14th.

  3. My IPad is still challenging me daily. It doesn't like my language. What's that about? And by the way, as I'm sure you know, word verification on this sucker is a beast !!

    1. Too funny. The word verification combination for me today was "eatext the". As in, my documents always seem to self edit and delete.

  5. Some errors are so glaring that I wonder whether the author ever 'looked'. And then I remember how many times I have seen one of my comments appear with typing and spelling errors. Oops.

    1. oops, indeed, and I don't a always fond them immediately. I happily comment in the morning, take a look later in the day--- and have to amend my earlier comment, not because I've changed my thinking but because I'm more awake.

  6. Hahaha! Idiots.
I have no patience with sloppy sub-editing.

Don't even get me started on misuse of apostrophes.
Typing on an iPad is an exercise in irritation and frustration
