thanksgiving feast

ok, this was really the most timely
word verification ever!
both sides of my personality in the trenches

here's a quote from David Lebovitz (The Sweet Life in Paris), pastry chef, author and blogger extraordinaire, on getting the meal to the table:

There are some really serious problems out there. Having a cake come out goofy, burning a tray of cookies, dropping a bowl of custard, not getting everything to the table at the same time, isn’t the end of the world. When I’m having a bad day, or whatever, I’ll stop to think about how lucky I am to have electricity, heat in my apartment, a roof over my head, a comfortable bed to climb into every night, friends and family to share good food with, and yes, even a sink to wash dishes in.

We hope there's a lot to be thankful for in your life, today and every day.
and yes, one of us is a bipolar New York depressive masochist Giant fan
who has suffered much -
and fortunately one of us isn't.

Happy Thanksgiving, Wellfedfred! Today I am thankful, in addition to the usual, for having discovered your wonderful blog early on as I love to learn and there is always a word, phrase (sometimes in French), a menu item, or a note on living in Flintstone Manor/Towers to add to my knowledge base. Hope you and The Whining Diner will have a great day! Food and Football!

  3. Happy Thanksgiving-- I got home really late yesterday from the office and a day filled with illness, money troubles, various heartaches of other people and did thank the multiverse for all my blessings. it is a very tough time out there for many folks and boy oh boy are we fortunate. Loved your post yesterday too-- a hoot!

  6. Hi, Lane, thank you and Happy Thanksgiving! This is the time of year when I think back to an elderly and grouchy (but well-dressed) teacher who said "The real thing that's wrong with material possessions is that enough people don't have them." To this day I ponder the many possible meanings of that statement, disagreeing, agreeing.

  8. I dropped half of the roast potatoes on the floor, five minutes before dinner-time. But you know, the gravy nearly fell to the floor too, but I did one of those quick Jackie-Chan hand manoevers and saved it. So things can always be worse! The kids barely touched the potatoes anyway.. Happy Thanksgiving, WFF!

  9. Happy Thanksgiving wellfedfred! :)

Thank you for yet another wonderful post! I always enjoy reading what you have to say, even if I don't always leave a comment. I agree that there is so much to be thankful for! Topping my list is my husband and our four boys. I am extremely thankful for them everyday of my life.

I hope you enjoy the rest of your evening. :)

As Alice Roosevelt Longworth said, if you've got anything bad to say, sit next to me! No, really, please remember to be kind, and don't say anything fred's mother would not approve of (Diner's mom didn't approve of anything. Including fred.)
