Finally I couldn't stand it any longer and ordered two silk blouses.
The buttons: small, white, pearl. Most of them lurk behind the front placket, only the top one shows.
The fit: the copy warns that the long sleeves are more fitted than the body. This is true.
The collar is quite flattering, not droopy, and is "gently rounded." Thus, it sits on the neck like the collar on a J.Crew perfect shirt, but its tips are rounded.
The colors: I ordered navy and pale grey. The other choice was mustard which is a non-starter for me. The navy is a true blue navy and miraculously brightens my skin tone although it doesn't de-frizz my hair. The pale grey is lovely and delicate, and will look nice with most deep colors, but risks looking like a dingy white with pastels.
The larger of the two sizes I ordered hasn't arrived yet, so there will no doubt be a follow-up after I've decided which size I'm keeping
Thanks for this. This company is located in San Francisco - I'm intrigued.
ReplyDeleteHi, JulieStyles, I'd be interested to know if they have a real store. I just know them from their web presence. The shirts seemed fairly priced, so I'll see what else they're doing after Christmas.
DeleteMustard is a non-starter for me as well, although I do love the way it looks paired with aubergine. Oh well - clashes too much with my skintone.
ReplyDeleteMe, too, and the funny thing is, I love deep aubergine on me!
DeleteThese blouses look lovely! I'm off to check out Everlane. I had never heard of them until now - thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteHi, Louise, apparently they do several small collections a year. This past fall they had some interesting coats.
DeleteI am looking for silk shirts as right now I have zero. I like the drape of these in the photos. Never heard of this company so will have to check it out. I would like a heavy cream one.
ReplyDeleteDisappointing about the non-defrizz property though! I did hit the salon today to have a blowout of my inappropriate-length-for -my -age hair; I am frizz free for the weekend.
Well, so far I'm happy with the blouses and fretting about which size looks better.
DeleteHave a great weekend!
I've had a look at their site as well. I found I couldn't get enough information, like where are the clothes made? Now you can tell me!
ReplyDeleteDo you send your silk blouses to the dry cleaner or are you able to wash them at home without ruining them?
well, by poking around on their blog, I learned that "Italian designers go to the highest mountains in Mongolia" to find the cashmere. Kind of ambiguous, I'd say. I also learned that the tees are made in San Francisco. That's good. A tag in my silk blouse says "Made in China." However, the seams are frenched and there's no serging. Good.
DeleteI am a bit crazy about Everlane. I have three Ryan tee shirts and the navy silk blouse. I've washed all of them and pressed with a cool iron and they're gorgeous. I didn't try their cashmere since I never wear crew necklines. I did buy a belt and I love that too. If they come out with more products, I know I'll try them.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Desert Flower, that's great to know. The first time they came to my attention, they were featuring a wrappy coat, which I loved, but which I knew I'd never wear. I was thrilled to find the blouses, wish they'd do a white or an ivory one.
ReplyDeleteI'm contemplating buying my wife one of their silk blouses, but their sizing and your comment about "tall and willowy girls" makes me nervous as my wife is 5'4". My wife's advice is that I look for sizes 6-8 and Everlane splits out M as 4-6 and L as 8-10. Can you offer any insight to this man delicately trying to dip his toe into women's fashions? *thanks*
ReplyDeleteHi, anon, when I said tall and willowy" I was referring to the catalog models, who looked that Watson the first Everlane catalogs I received. I'm 5'4 and did not find the blouses too long. I did think the M was too loose on the sides and that the shoulder seam was a touch droopy, but that could just be the style, a little bit loose and optic. Anyway I've also ordered the S, and will keep whichever I think fits better. If your wife is slender you might go with the S. I'll update when the S arrives.
