the Copywriter From Space strikes again

This is not a work outfit.
Unless your work is not something you'd rather not tell your mother about.

  1. Snort! Shorts and heels..... Not at any job I've ever done.

    1. hi, Wendy, I keep wondering, who actually does buy this stuff? I've spent the better part of my adult life in offices, courtrooms and conference rooms. I spend on non-deductible non-expensible travel and entertainment at a level some people might find extravagant. I agree that sequins have their place -- I wore a silver sequin vest over tight black jeans and v-neck silver-finished longsleeve tee to a party in Nashville (and was asked if I was one of LeAnn's back-up singers). I have called HR to send staff home to change for wearing "fashion" to the office. Cheez Louise. Enough already.

  3. wellfedfred, you really must be my sister from another mother. :-) I absolutely could have written every word of your reply to WMM, and (as always) your post and title were spot on and hilarious. Love love love your blog, even though I'm a perpetual lazy lurker and almost never comment (here or anywhere else -- I mean it when I say l-a-z-y lurker! :-))

By the way, your post about that Mr. Green Jeans shirt at Crewhenge was a read-out-loud-to-chuckling-Hubs delight!

  4. Not sure what's going on lately in my company either. I have seen some temps come to work (during the week, when it's supposed to be 'business casual') in maxi beach dresses. I was shocked. But I guess when you have people in HR who show up to work sporting yoga capris and ankle tattoos on casual Fridays you know everything is going downhill.

    1. and a friend's son who works for a very large bank in Seattle has advised (via his mom) that they were told they could wear shorts and sandals to work.

  5. This is why denim has been banned from many companies.

    Greaet post, WFF.

  6. A couple of well-placed quotation marks would've done wonders here. We know you have a sense of humor, CWS.

  7. Hi WFF. I saw that too and thought...maybe in Tech? My BF works for a very casual lawfirm, I work in a business-casual industry, and we live in a very casual city, but denim shorts and heels? C'mon...

    1. hi, CC, most of the techies I know are casual, but in an offhand oblivious kind of way. One of the things that's wrong with this outfit, IMO, is that it's very self-conscious. Or maybe it depicts the kind of anxiety dream on which the dreamer shows up for an exam of interview minus some or all of her outfit...

As Alice Roosevelt Longworth said, if you've got anything bad to say, sit next to me! No, really, please remember to be kind, and don't say anything fred's mother would not approve of (Diner's mom didn't approve of anything. Including fred.)
