finally unpacked last of suitcase and it seems that all of our chargers (electronics, not large under-plate-things which we do not own) were having such a good time that they have remained abroad. All of them. For some reason power unit to computer found its way into Himself's suitcase for trip over, so it remained abroad as well. Trip to Apple store resulted in return trip to Apple store, noise level being such that helpful guy with charge machine probably didn't hear me when I recited the Roll Call of the Missing, so everything I brought home had to go back. tip for visitors to NYC: yes there is an Apple store right outside of FAO Schwarz and you should go to any of the numerous OTHER Apple stores in NYC, unless of course you have already lost your hearing. Bright side report: did not lose any shoes this trip. That I know of, brain still working shorter hours in protest of something that has not been shared with me.

So my messy snuffleupagus cold is clearing up, strange but nice weather is holding, in fact some regular spring and summer migratory birds who visit regularly from May to August seem to have turned around and come back (worrisome, that), the electronics are charged up, madly deleting as many as I can of the idiotic extras wished upon i-Things by the operating system upgrade - as Mom said when the Jolly Green Giant changed the frozen butter sauce on his frozen string beans, "Why do improvements always make things worse?" - and although still dropping off to sleep at odd and inconvenient moments, I thought a word or so explaining the radio silence from Flintstone Towers would be in order. Now you know. Regular blogging is expected to resume shortly. Get ready to drool.

  1. Oh Lord! I leave something everywhere: it is my equivalent, I have decided, of "Kilroy was here". I cannot wait for the photos. I have been to that apple store was glad to hasten to the bosom of the teddy bears next door!

    1. Hi, Wendy, I never go to that store even though it's a 5 minute walk from my house, I usually just Jo on the crosstown bus which goes from my corner to west side apple store. See, brain not functioning. Charged phone at colorist the other day,
BTW mine isn't the only nonfunctional brain around here, Himself suggested trying to call various concierges and asking them to send over anything they might've found. I reminded him of the aftermath of a trip to Nice a few years back...

  2. Rest up and I hope you feel better soon!

I got back from Asia over the weekend and my sleep cycle is still not-so-right - don't get sleepy until late, wake up through the night and have to fall out of bed in the mornings. Ah well, what's "normal" anyways? ;o)

    1. Hi, Lisa, coming from the opposite direction has left me waking at 5 a.m., groggy, full of self-pity, and unable to so anything but watch to see when the J.Crew site refreshes. Oh, this is soooooo not a good combination.

    1. thanks, Louise! yes, when I'm in normal condition I walk on the other side of the avenue to avoid that store. Oh, well, at least I didn't fall asleep at 9 pm today!

  4. I am sure the upcoming pictures will show the trip was well worth the after effects. No desire to step into an Apple store while on vacay.

  5. It's not funny, losing all your chargers -- and I love that you defined that! -- but the way you tell it is.

    Welcome back.

  6. I love reading about all your adventures, both here and afar. You are a braver woman than I. The thought of packing, and jet lag during the trip only trumped by back home sleepless nights make me a bad traveler. Need to take an example from you!

    1. Thank you, Teacups! I hate packing, and back in the days when my weight was smaller and more consistent, I actually kept the basic elements of my travel clothes (2 dinner dresses, 2 pantsuits) in a suitcase. Everything else was decoration (underwear, shoes, shirts, topcoat) so didn't have to be hunted. Before luggage limits, we'd even have a separate bag for shoes. Oh, nostalgia. I don't mind rising early on return, it's a good quiet time to catch up on stuff, but I will admit it's embarrassing to fall asleep at dinner.

  7. Breathing a sigh of relief your shoes didn't go missing. Thank heavens for that.
Looking forward to reading more about your trip.
