This was the only interesting tee at J.Crew yesterday.
Not in a good way.
Almost making ungrammatical non-idiomatic French look good?
The antidote - some shots of the cute windows at Anthropologie.
I've read that the window displays are crafted by the interns.
I'm going through a bird phase - yes, I know, a little late.
I'm hoping to see a phoenix rising in early spring.
- no shots from JC's windows- I don't consider pops of orange very Christmassy. Better luck next year.
Pops of orange? Ugh! Wrong holiday, JC!
ReplyDeleteThey didn't sparkle much at Halloween, either.
DeleteHasnt JC been off for a while now? Ive been getting that impression. And Christmas windows have become unpredictable. They were one of my favorite parts of Christmas as a little girl, always a thrill, but they rarely go over-the-top-glory-of-Christmas and now try to be global- marketplace-arty.
ReplyDeleteI have yet to venture out into the hoopla. Perhaps I will find more Christmas than in recent years. The birds at Antropologie are cute
JC's been in decline for a few years, I agree. When their rush to crapify began, the Crewlovers who worriedly pointed this out were accused of disloyalty to the brand. It's awful when Cassandra is right.
DeleteI had actually set out to get some snaps of the extravaganza at Barney's - it drew mobs the day of its unveiling, perhaps because there were "refreshments."
I grew up in a mall suburb so I never really had the city windows experience at Xmas. And now with online shopping it's an entirely different thing.
ReplyDelete"It's awful when Cassandra is right." Well, there is that little thrill of "I told you so"! I remember all the flame wars on JCA. I'm not complaining; this year I've found lots of lovely "pre-war" JCA on eBay, including last week's treasure--a NWT 2008 ivory Penny wool boucle jacket with tiny silk ruffles and silk-covered buttons. We don't see those kinds of dressmaker details any longer. And I do know how to spell "boucle" but I don't know how to make an accent aigu. :-)
P.S. I actually kind of like the tee. Would be better if it were on something I could give to Mr. Hex.
The tee was in the Women's section of the store, but I would love it for Men's!
DeleteOh, the Penny jacket.... Lucky you!
Love the windows. I was not sure my town, Oakville, was liveable until I saw they had an Anthropologie on their main street to which I could walk. What's up with J. Crew these days? Weird.
ReplyDeleteHi, Jen, I think the Crew is gasping for life, trying to perpetuate the myth without doing the work. Sad. Every once in a while there are flickers of life.
DeleteMore windows later this week!
not even hermes puts orange in its windows this time of year!!
ReplyDeleteHermes is doing Snow Queen in feathers and crystals this year. Striking, but my pics didn't come out.
DeleteOh WWF, I miss the Christmas windows in NYC!!! Thanks for posting. I agree J Crew has lost its way, sad. But like Hexicon I am finding some gems out on Ebay and so with my existing J Crew items, that should keep me going until they hopefulIy get back on track.
ReplyDeleteMore window pics later in the week, the weather's been ghastly the past few days.
DeleteI'm looking for luck on ebay these days too.
Oh, I love to get to the city to see the windows ( the museums, everything), but not happening this year, it would appear. Hoping I don't run into that tee anywhere, not sure I could keep a straight face.
ReplyDeleteMy comments here disappeared into the ether, I now see. Boo.
