Farmer's Market morning

Our little local farmers' market reopened last week, but the weather wasn't encouraging.

We stopped by this morning, hoping to beat the Visigoths to the village's food supply. There's not much this time of year.

Not much for people, that is.

We picked up a couple dozen Little Necks (this lady is married to the guy who goes clamming, which is not something I would choose to do in this still-chilly-spring, but I'm glad he does it),

some fresh linguini (all the way from Brooklyn),

looked for basil,

and remembered that there's a chunk of either Parmesan or Grana in the fridge. Dinner!

So we didn't get to buy any farm-fresh veggies; not surprising. But there were pickles. Maybe next week!

  1. Your farmer's market looks about the same as ours here. You can buy any kind of pickle, frozen fish and shrimp, and potted plants, but not much else.

    Your dinner sounds delicious!

  2. Hi, Rose, dinner was good altho (or maybe because) I cheated and added a little frozen pesto that I noticed lurking in the freezer!

  3. I wonder if there isn't some kind of sociological explanation for this whole romper thing. Do clothes generally get silly when times are unstable or when people feel that times are unstable? Anyway I know that I will never wear a romper for the simple reason that I'm afraid I won't be able to get out of it in a hurry if I need to.

As to cheap bags, it's really annoying to bring a bag in for repair (2 really good places in NYC, Artbag and Superior Leather), and be told that it's a piece of junk and not worth repairing. Grrr.

As Alice Roosevelt Longworth said, if you've got anything bad to say, sit next to me! No, really, please remember to be kind, and don't say anything fred's mother would not approve of (Diner's mom didn't approve of anything. Including fred.)
